Scott is a trainee counsellor at Place to Talk Therapies and is in the final stages of completing an MA in Counselling. Working towards qualification doesn't mean working without care or attention. Scott brings genuine commitment to every session, and the same respect for confidentiality, pace and safety that runs through the rest of the team's approach.
About me and how I workI’m interested in the stories that shape us: the experiences, relationships and meanings that influence how we understand ourselves and the world around us. Often, what we see on the surface has roots in experiences that are less visible. I believe there is value in slowing down and paying attention to the parts of our story that may be difficult, overlooked or hard to make sense of.
For me, the therapeutic relationship is central to this work. I aim to offer a place where you can feel heard and understood, while having the freedom to explore your experiences with honesty, curiosity and without judgement. I work integratively, drawing on different therapeutic approaches to meet the individual needs of each person. I see counselling as a collaborative process of making sense of what has been, becoming more aware of the patterns that shape us, and considering what might be possible going forward.
Therapy can be an opportunity to pause, reflect and begin to understand yourself and your experiences in a different way. My aim is to work alongside you at a pace that feels right, helping you explore what has brought you to counselling and what you might want to change.
I am a registered trainee member of the BACP, hold a current Enhanced DBS, have completed safeguarding training, and hold appropriate professional indemnity insurance.

This gives us a chance to understand what's brought you to counselling and check that lower-cost online support is a good fit for your needs. If it is, you'll be introduced to Scott for your first full session. If lower-cost counselling is the right fit, you'll continue working with the same counsellor throughout..

How Scott worksScott works online and offers a space to talk openly, without needing to have the right words ready or a clear sense of where to start. Sessions are collaborative, moving at whatever pace feels right for you, and grounded in the same trauma-informed, non-judgemental and shame-sensitive approach used across Place to Talk Therapies.
How many sessions will I get?Lower-cost counselling with Scott is offered in an initial block of 12 sessions. Towards the end of this block, you and Scott will discuss how things are going and, if you're both in agreement, sessions can usually continue in blocks of 6 weeks recurring.
What if I want to stop or take a break? There's no obligation to use all the sessions in a block, you and Scott can agree to end sooner if that feels right. Should anything change, we'll always talk with you about the options available, including being matched with another member of the team.
